Hello everyone! I'm Nicolette (Nic) Ereñeta-Escalona from Manila, Philippines. I was in training for Levels 1-3 for 3 years from 2020 - 2023. I am a children's yoga teacher for autism and special needs. I fell in love working with children during that 3 year training all because of Shawnee when she said: "dysregulation happens when there's a need that's unmet." Since then, I find joy and excitement working on very complex cases. I am working towards being a yoga therapist and I am on the look-out for a yoga therapy training that's specific to pediatrics. So here's to crossing my fingers that Shawnee has a 900-hour IAYT program 😁 I work with my husband who is a Functional Medicine doctor specializing in treating children with autism in terms of gut health, nutrition, and metabolic issues. We are set to open a Functional / Integrative Medicine clinic this June/July where my therapeutic yoga room will have its permanent home for my kiddos. I currently use the Integrated Listening Systems and Safe & Sound Protocol alongside what I've learned from Shawnee and it has been amazing! Thank you for birthing this space for us, Shawnee and happy to be here.
I'm Elena from France. I took several trainings with Shawnee in 2022-2023 and it changed me personnally and also as a yoga professional. Now I have a project that promotes an accessible yoga practice, and my own yoga studio in the suburbs of Paris.
I am very glad to be part of this beautiful community!
Hi Everyone. I am Sandra from Townsville in North Queensland, Australia. I am in the current Yoga Therapy for Youth cohort.
I work as a yoga therapist. I am kept busy with work and my 3 teenage children. I am on the IAYT committee, as well as the president of a not-for-profit hiking group in my hometown.
Hiking and rowing bring me joy. Even though I have only been rowing for 1 year, I have a goal to compete in a couple of regattas for a bit of fun. And a group of friends will be completing a multi day hike on the Great Ocean Trail in October.
Hi, everyone! I'm Lacey Lewis from Austin, TX and was in the 2021 Yoga Therapy for Youth cohort. I currently work as a music teacher at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and am studying music therapy. In fact, the music therapy component of the yoga training was one of the experiences that encouraged me to pursue music therapy. I will actually be temporarily relocating to Dallas to complete my music therapy internship in late March. When I'm not teaching and studying I'm writing and performing music as my solo ambient experimental electronic music project Heavy Stars as well as playing percussion in the group Thor and Friends.
Hi all!
Don't forget to introduce yourself and share a little bit about yourself with the group!
Amazing!
